Had a friend over for dinner last night who happens to be a vegetarian. So I decided to cook mushroom risotto and use saffron steeped in hot water instead of stock to make said risotto. I think the saffron was off, 'cos it smelled funny and really did not add the expected sweet-ish taste to the dish. In fact it smelled like mud. Ewww. Luckily I was able to mask it with pepper, white wine and Parmesan cheese.
Plus I had made a special delicious chocolate cake which I served with cream and fresh raspberries, so lucky escape there!
Spent the evening discussing food, sigh. All I seem to think about these days is food and cooking (not to mention baking), no wonder my weight has gone up by over 2 stone since I got married. I blame Nigella Lawson, if she hadn't started making cooking easy I would still be 9 stone.
Oh well. At least I am very well fed...
Had a mini red letter day today. I finally received the last bits of scientific info necessary to write the final chapter of my chemistry PhD thesis. Hurrah!
And in other thoughts, mini-Den is sex on legs on EE at the mo. Sigh...
